Highlights from the 2022 SEMA Show

November 10, 2022 3 min read

Attending the biggest automotive trade show on Earth was nothing short of an amazing landscape of custom builds and innovative technologies that appeased the senses for any automotive enthusiast. This year, the convention spanned over five separate halls and three major lots for an unforgettable display of peak craftsmanship and performance edge that spanned all aspects of the aftermarket world.

2022 SEMA Show Highlights

SEMA is the one time out of the year for manufacturers and builders to showcase their projects. This year, we saw a multitude of builds and displays. Innovating, extreme, and some strange.

Ryan Tuerck’s tube framed Toyota Stout was looking good with its custom bodywork and creamy white paint.

EV conversions are everywhere these days. This new GR86’s 2.4L Boxer engine had a battery pack put in its place.

Not often you see a well-kept Honda Civic EF these days.

In person, Ken Block’s Pikes Peak Porsche dubbed the “Hoonipigasus”, was a sight to behold. The craftsmanship and engineering behind this car was second to none.

An old GMC truck at Toyo Treadpass dumped to the ground with a good amount of patina on it.

Did you know the Batmobile runs on Hoosiers?

Clean 2JZ swapped E30 on display at the Toyo Treadpass.

Lexus had their Sport Concept on display. Seeing this in person, we definitely see some resemblance to the Lexus LFA.

The 2023 Acura Integra is one of the year’s most talked about new releases.

The “Attacking The Clock” R32 GT-R time attack car was looking good at the Moton Suspension booth.

The Toyo Tires Treadpass never disappoints. It was here that we saw this beautiful resto-modded Mercedes SL300 Gullwing with a custom wide body.

How much horsepower do you think this Mammoth has?

There are so many custom built cars at SEMA, more than we can count. Among the sea of $100k builds, this off-road themed AE92 Toyota Corolla stood out. With a complete all wheel drive drivetrain conversion, rock sliders, and long travel suspension, this Corolla is ready for business.

Even classic cars cannot hide from the electric movement. This Datsun Sunny Truck is a prime example.

R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R's are one of many popular display cars this year.

One of the less talked about exhibitors was Williams Racing (yes… that Williams). With their current 2022 F1 car on display, it was a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with a Formula 1 car. This car is long, about the length of a current generation Toyota Tacoma.

Spotted our red HPS radiator hoses on this restored Nissan Datsun 240Z.

Is this a tank?

If electric isn’t your thing, apparently you can de-electrify your Tesla Model S.

Clean restoration of a 1985 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z28.

New HPS Products

Alongside our return to the showroom floor, we announced our newest products during the week of SEMA. From performance parts to essential hoses, we're finishing the year off strong and making room for bigger and more ambitious projects for 2023.

With the new 2023 Acura Integra having been released this year, there were a few tastefully modified examples on display. We worked with 2 time X-Games medalist Coco Zurita to get our hands-on the new Integra and designed a couple of new products on this street-styled car. In the pipeline for 2023 are our HPS Performance Air Intake and Cold Side Intercooler Pipe Kit.

HPS expanded its high-performance plumbing products with a complete line of AN style fittings. With hose ends for three different types of hoses and a wide selection of adapters, HPS AN style fittings are a great option for your build.

Now that R33 Skylines are able to be legally imported into the US, their popularity has soared in recent years. In celebration of these high-powered monsters, HPS carries a full line of OE replacement reinforced silicone hoses upgrades for all of the coolant and intercooler hoses.

Even though the Hyundai Veloster N made its short stay in the automotive world a brief one, it paved the way for high-performance vehicles such as the Kona N and Elantra N. As a nod to the OG that carried the first "N" badge, we developed an HPS Performance Air Intake Kit fit for the high-performance hatchback coupe. Available in Q1 of 2023, this kit is a much anticipated addition to our family of performance induction products.
