More power? Check!
More noise? Check!
More better? Check!
Over the years, we have received tons of feedback from customer interactions to help us decide on what to make next and how to improve existing products. For the 9th gen Honda Civic, we’ve garnered lots of feedback through the 8 years that it's been on sale. Now, it’s time for a revamp.
We brought in a clean 9th Gen Civic LX with low miles and got to work. The assignment was clear; make it better. Our previous design had lots of room for improvement. A heat shield is one of the basic standards that makes an HPS intake system stand out. So what better place to start than the heat shield?
Taking a closer look, simply adding a heat shield wasn’t very straight forward. So first, we mocked up a new intake pipe and fired up the 3D scanner to create a point cloud to map out the entire engine bay. With all of the parameters set in place, we modeled the entire intake system in Solidworks and brought our new 827-700 intake system to life.
The new heat shield design limits radiant heat from the engine, transmission, and radiator from getting into the air stream. Making this heat shield even more functional, we kept the gap between the hood and the heat shield tight to create a low pressure zone allowing the stock air duct to promote cool air into your engine. With these improvements, our dyno tests showed an increase of 3.5 horsepower and 4.7 lb-ft of torque.
The installation of this intake system requires moderate mechanical experience. Our detailed step-by-step installation instructions help guide you through the entire process for a seamless transition to an HPS powered vehicle. Although the design of this intake system hides the intake pipe from clear view, details matter which is why we are offering it in polished aluminum and 3 powder coated color options (black, red, blue).
Fits the Following Vehicles:
2012-2015 Honda Civic 1.8L 4-Cylinder Gas (DX, EX, EX-L, HF, LX, SE, Touring)
